$842 Million Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Michigan, first time this game has been won on new year's day

 Johnston, Iowa (AP) — Someone in Michigan won a $842.4 million Powerball jackpot on 1st January 2024.

The first time it has been won on New Year's Day since the game began in 1992.

The winning numbers drawn were: 12, 21, 42, 44, 49 and the red Powerball: 1.

The final ticket sale pushed the jackpot past its earlier estimate of $810 million to $842.4 million at the time of the draw.

 Making it the fifth-largest Powerball jackpot and the 10th-largest US lottery jackpot ever.

The jackpot was initially expected to be $810 million, but final ticket sales increased it to $842.4 million.

The one-time cash payment value of the winning ticket is $425.2 million.

According to Powerball, this jackpot was the fifth largest and tenth largest US lottery jackpot in Powerball history.
